The rapid growth of paylater applications among Generation Z has significantly transformed consumption patterns and saving behavior in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Islamic banking is in an expansion phase that requires stable and sustainable growth of Third-Party Funds (DPK). This study aims to analyze the transformation of Gen Z saving behavior in the paylater era and its implications for the growth of DPK in Indonesian Islamic banking, while examining both threats and opportunities arising from this phenomenon. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach through content analysis of various relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings indicate that paylater poses a real threat by encouraging consumptive behavior, reducing saving tendencies, and extending debt cycles among young people. However, the emergence of sharia-based fintech ecosystems opens new opportunities to bring Gen Z into the broader Islamic financial ecosystem. Innovative and collaborative strategies from Islamic banks, regulators, and educational institutions are needed to respond appropriately to sustain DPK growth.
