Abstract

The transformation of Islamic law is inevitable in responding to social, economic, and technological dynamics in the modern era. The development of the Sharia economic system as part of contemporary muamalah practices demands methodological and conceptual adjustments in Islamic law without abandoning its fundamental principles. This article aims to examine the transformation of Islamic law in the development of the Sharia economic system through an analysis of contemporary scholars’ thought. The research method employed is library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The study’s findings indicate that contemporary scholars emphasize the importance of contextual ijtihad, maqaṣid al-shari‘ah, and the integration of normative texts with empirical reality in building an adaptive, inclusive, and just Sharia economic system. The transformation of Islamic law in the field of Sharia economics is not a form of deconstruction of Sharia but an effort to actualize Islamic values in the modern context.
