Abstract

The rapid development of financial technology has driven changes in Generation Z's behavior in utilizing digital financial services, including Sharia-compliant fintech. This study was conducted to examine the extent to which halal awareness, perceived ease of use, and peer influence play a role in Generation Z's decision-making in Mataram City regarding the use of Sharia-compliant fintech services. The theoretical basis of this study refers to the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and Social Influence Theory, which is strengthened by a review of literature related to fintech and the Sharia economy. This study applies a quantitative approach with a causal associative research design. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents belonging to Generation Z in Mataram City, where respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis in this study was conducted using multiple linear regression methods with the assistance of SPSS software. The results show that perceived ease of use and peer influence have a positive and significant influence on the decision to use Sharia-compliant fintech services, while halal awareness has a significant and negative influence. Collectively, the three independent variables in this study were shown to significantly influence the decision to use Sharia-compliant fintech services. This study concluded that technological and social factors play a more dominant role in encouraging Generation Z to use Sharia-compliant fintech, necessitating the strengthening of literacy and understanding regarding the implementation of halal values in Sharia-compliant fintech services.
