Contemporary Islamic education faces complex challenges amid the rapid development of globalization and digitalization, which have transformed mindsets, behaviors, and learning systems. This article aims to analyze the direction and challenges of Islamic education in responding to these changes, particularly in the integration of scientific knowledge and Islamic values, the strengthening of character education, and the promotion of religious moderation. The study employs a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach to relevant literature. The findings indicate that globalization and digitalization present both opportunities and challenges for Islamic education, especially in maintaining Islamic identity within the flow of modernization. The integration of knowledge and Islamic values is essential to develop a holistic and non-fragmented educational system. Furthermore, character education and religious moderation play a crucial role in shaping a tolerant, inclusive, and morally grounded generation. Meanwhile, classical Islamic thought remains relevant and can be recontextualized as a normative foundation for addressing contemporary issues. Therefore, systematic and innovative efforts are required to develop Islamic education that is adaptive, integrative, and contextual in the modern era
