Abstrak

This research aims to improve the ability to recognize the number symbols 1–10 in Group B PAUD Kb Tirta Ratu Lengkok Ratu children through the use of number blocks as media. This research used the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which was carried out in two cycles, with research subjects of 20 children aged 5-6 years. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The research results showed a significant increase: in the initial condition only 10% of children reached the Developing According to Expectations (BSH) category, this increased to 35% in Cycle I, and reached 75% in Cycle II. Number block media has been proven to be effective in changing abstract concepts of numbers into concrete ones, increasing learning motivation, and training children's cognitive and fine motor skills. In conclusion, the use of number block media can improve the ability to recognize number symbols optimally and in accordance with the principle of learning while playing in early childhood.
