Mengembalikan Esensi Murabbi Di Tengah Modernitas Pendidikan

Abstrak

The transformation of digital education and the development of artificial intelligence (AI) have expanded access to knowledge while also creating challenges for character formation, ethics, academic integrity, and educational relationships. In this context, the concept of murabbi remains relevant because Islamic education is not merely concerned with knowledge transfer but also with holistic human formation through the integration of knowledge, adab, morality, exemplary conduct, and guidance. This article aims to analyze the essence of murabbi, examine the challenges posed by modernity to its educational function, and formulate a framework for revitalizing the murabbi in contemporary education. This study employs library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach through thematic analysis of Islamic education literature, scholarly journal articles, and UNESCO documents on the future of education and AI. The findings indicate that the revitalization of the murabbi can be developed through four interrelated dimensions: personal exemplary conduct, holistic mentoring, digital-ethical literacy, and an adab-based educational culture. These dimensions emphasize that technology should function as an educational instrument, while human development and the pursuit of the common good remain the primary orientation of education. Accordingly, the contemporary murabbi requires not only scholarly and pedagogical competence but also integrity, digital literacy, ethical maturity, and the capacity to guide learners in using knowledge and technology responsibly. This framework provides a conceptual foundation for further empirical research on revitalizing the role of murabbi across Islamic educational institutions.
