Abstract

The main objective of this study is to determine the extent to which the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping student character in the digital era at PKBM Lentera Agung. The digital era presents various influences, both positive and negative, on student behavior and character. Instilling character values becomes very important, especially through the approach of Islamic religious teachings. This research was conducted using a qualitative method through a case study approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, as well as analysis of documentation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning activities. The research findings indicate that Islamic Religious Education at PKBM Lentera Agung has an important role in instilling character values such as discipline, responsibility, and tolerance in students. Despite facing challenges such as a lack of control in the use of digital technology and the negative influence of social media, PAI teachers strive to innovate technology-based learning and strengthen character through exemplary behavior and habituation. The conclusion of this study is that Islamic Religious Education remains relevant and effective in shaping student character when delivered with an approach that is in line with the times.
