“Anecdotal Records As Instrument For Qirā’ah Skills And Cognitive Development Of Students’

Abstract

Non-test assesments play an important role, especially in assessing students' cognitive abilities in reading skills. One non-test instrument that can be used is anecdotal records, which document students authentic development based on syistematic observation. This study adopted a qualitative method with a case study approach, focusing on observing cognitive aspects such as recognizing information, comprehending reading content, analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing. The results of the study indicate that the use of anecdotal records by teachers in the observation process is still restricted to behavior that is observable in the classroom and school environment. However, students' cognitive abilities in reading have demonstrated progressive improvement in accordance with their grade level, as evidenced by teachers' reports and reflections on the learning process that has been implemented.
